Mustangs Sweep McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md.- The Stevenson women's volleyball team recorded a team season-best .400 hitting percentage as they swept McDaniel, Tuesday evening.

  • The Mustangs started off with a 5-2 lead over McDaniel after a service ace from Kayla Vaeth
  • McDaniel picked up two consecutive points to come within one at 5-4 after a Mustang attack error. 
  • For the next few points, the teams traded points at 10-8 going into a Stevenson timeout. 
  • The Mustangs recorded four points in a row following kills by Sophia Eckerd and Sarah Straub which then forced a Green Terror timeout. 
  • After a kill from Piper Connors, Stevenson doubled their lead, 20-10. 
  • Darian Dildy closed out the first set with a kill to win, 25-14. 

  • The Green Terror started set two with a 3-5 lead after a kill and a service ace. 
  • Stevenson and McDaniel went back and forth a bit before the Mustangs really got in their groove. 
  • The Mustangs tallied four points in a row following two kills from Dildy, a Mackenzie Blevins service ace, and a kill from Shannon Baily. Stevenson led McDaniel, 11-8. 
  • McDaniel recorded the next two points to come within one at 11-10. 
  • Two Green Terror errors sandwiched a kill from Dildy as the Mustangs extended their lead to 14-10. 
  • The Mustangs kept things rolling as they tallied the next four points after a McDaniel kill to go up, 18-11 after a Connors kill. 
  • The Mustangs pulled within five points of set point following a kill from Straub. 
  • Stevenson picked up the next three points after a McDaniel timeout. A kill from Dildy and two service aces from Hannah Naja put the Mustangs up, 24-16
  • The Green Terror squeezed in one final point before Baily smacked down the final kill to win, 25-17. 

  • Stevenson kept their momentum going as they held a 9-5 lead in set three after a kill from Blevins and two Green Terror attack errors. 
  • McDaniel tallied three points in a row to come within one at 9-8 but they couldn't seem to keep up. 
  • The Mustangs smacked down four consecutive kills from Baily, Blevins, and Dildy to extend their lead, 14-9. 
  • The Green Terror squeezed in two more points as Stevenson kept rolling with four points in a row. Blocks by Dildy and Eckerd put the Mustangs up, 19-11. 
  • A kill from Straub, Haley Hoover, and Rileigh Kimball and a block from Eckerd and Kimball led the Mustangs to a 25-13 victory. 

  • Stevenson moves to an impressive, 21-4 on the season while McDaniel falls to 6-14. 
  • The Mustangs recorded a season-best .400 hitting percentage. 
  • Dildy totaled eight kills while hitting .889. Dildy also added four block assists. Dildy's hitting percentage is also a season best. 
  • Straub tallied six kills while hitting .750 and recorded four block assists. 
  • Eckerd recorded eight block assists and two solo blocks. Eckerd's hitting percentage is a season-best. 

  • Stevenson has a quick turnaround as they travel to Penn St.-Berks this Thursday, October 21st at 7:00 PM.
