BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Stevenson women's track and field team placed fourth overall in the team standings at the Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships, hosted by Lehigh University, with a team score of 95.
Sophomore Rachel Panek broke her own school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.32 seconds to earn third place overall and a spot on the All-MAC Third team. Panek would also take fifth in the pentathlon with a total score of 2356. Panek took first in the 60m hurdles (9.63) and second in both the shot put (9.45m) and 800 (2:39.31).
In the shot put, the Mustangs continued their dominance in the throwing events, taking four of the top eight spots. Senior Jess Rega set a personal best with a top toss of 13.25 meters, which gave her second overall. Rega's toss is currently second-best in the Mideast region and 20th in Division III. Junior Danika Ani picked up the third spot with a throw of 12.45m, while junior Kiarra Nowell placed sixth with an 11.41. Senior Lauren Dioses earned a podium spot and eighth place finish with a 10.89.
Junior Kimberly Hammond and freshman Ashlynne Raby picked up six points in the 60m dash finals for the Mustangs. Hammond took fifth (8.08) and Raby took seventh (8.14). Raby would also place sixth in the 200 with a time of 26.89.
Senior Kelly Winklbauer broke her own school record in the 3000 with a time of 10:49.03, which gave her eighth overall in the event. Winklbauer would also place seventh in the mile with a 5:14.17.
In the 4x800m relay, seniors Kayla Bias, Mary Sam and juniors CJ Morris and Achol Odolla placed sixth overall with a combined time of 4:28.92. To close out the meet, sophomores Jaleah Sydnor and Ryley Hinson, junior Chalisse Lockley and Raby took the eighth spot in the 4x400 with a time of 4:28.92.
Misericordia won their second-straight MAC Indoor title with a team score of 143.5.
The Mustangs continue their indoor season at the two-day AARTFC Championship, hosted by Ithaca College, starting on Friday, March 1.
