Late Goal Lifts Mustangs to Fourth Straight Victory

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Brianna Christie scored with just under six minutes remaining to lift the Stevenson women's soccer team to a 1-0 MAC Commonwealth victory against Lebanon Valley College at Mustang Stadium Wednesday evening, its fourth straight win.

  • Kaeleigh Smedley had LVC's (3-7, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) first shot in the eighth minute but her bid was stopped by Stevenson (5-6-1, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) keeper Keegan Caffrey.
  • Marissa Inglisa put a shot on target at the 14:10 mark but it was stopped by Dutchmen goalie Serena Donmoyer.
  • Bridgett Finn found herself all alone against Caffrey just past the 15-minute mark but her attempt rang off the left post.
  • Just over a minute later, Caffrey made a diving stop on a shot to the right by Maya Cohen.
  • Inglisa had two shots at the 19-minute mark, with the first one blocked and the second pushed to the right.
  • In the 32nd minute, Gabrielle Arters got past an LVC defender and put a shot on goal, but it was scooped up by Donmoyer.
  • With just over a minute to go before intermission, Alyssa Yoder tried to put a shot inside the left post, but Caffrey was able to make the save.

  • Off a corner kick in the 49th minute, Alayna Roesener headed a ball that got past Donmoyer, but a Lebanon Valley defender headed it away.
  • Lezah Gannon put a shot on net from 15 yards in the 67th minute that was grabbed by Donmoyer.
  • Melanie Parncutt turned and fired from 12 yards out in the 72nd minute, but Donmoyer came up with another save.
  • The guests' first shot of the second half came with just over 11 minutes left in the half but was wide.
  • Stevenson generated back-to-back corner kicks in the 84h minute, with Christie scoring after the second one.
  • After the corner kick, the ball ended up back out to Allison Arters in the right corner.  She played a long ball that bounced twice to the left side of the box that Christie one-timed past Donmoyer from 10 yards out.
  • Inglisa nearly made it 2-0 just over a minute later but her attempt sailed high.
  • Another late shot by Cassidy Butler was stopped by Donmoyer.

  • Stevenson outshot Lebanon Valley 13-8, including 8-2 over the final 45 minutes.
  • The hosts also took nine of the game's 14 corner kicks.
  • Caffrey made three saves en route to her third straight shutout and fourth of the season, while Donmoyer had five stops.
  • Inglisa had a team-high five shots.
  • Stevenson's four-game win streak is its longest since winning six in a row in 2017.
  • The Mustangs evened their home record to 3-3.
  • It marked the first win for Stevenson over the Dutchmen since 2015.

  • Stevenson heads to Alvernia on Saturday, October 12 for a 4 pm MAC Commonwealth contest.
  • The Mustangs return home Friday, October 18, hosting Lycoming in a 7 pm conference match at Mustang Stadium.
