NEW ORLEANS – Junior Patrick Watson and sophomore Emily Gates of the Stevenson men's and women's cross country teams were earned recognized by the USTFCCCA as All-Region performers earlier this week.
The top 35 runners at each of eight NCAA regional meets held last Saturday were honored as All-Region.
Watson, who earned All-Region for the second straight season, placed third overall at the NCAA Mideast Regional to qualify as an individual for Saturday's NCAA national meet at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Watson ran an 8K time of 26:04, just nine seconds behind Harley Moyer of Washington and Jefferson, to lead the Mustangs to an eighth-place finish.
Gates finished 26th for the Stevenson women on Saturday, posting a personal-best 6K time of 23:52. She led the Mustangs to a 20th place finish out of 47 schools, their best-ever at the regional meet.
