Women's Cross Country Sends Four to Hood Open

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Stevenson University women's cross country freshman Meghan Najewicz (Baltimore/Perry Hall) was one of four runners to compete for the Mustangs on Saturday at the Hood College Open Meet, placing 44th in her fourth race of the season.
Najewicz was the second runner to cross the finish line for Stevenson, posting a time of 28:49.17 which was just ahead of senior Brooke Witherow (Berlin/Stephen Decatur) who came in 46th with a time of 29:03.05.
Freshman Julie Bekier (Baltimore/Greater Grace Christian Academy) was the team's top finisher for the fifth consecutive race, crossing the line in a time of 27:28.42, good enough for 24th.
Junior Lauren Redding (Bel Air/C. Milton Wright) joined Witherow in competing her seven-straight race as the two are the only runners to have competed in all seven races this season. Redding placed 66th in a time of 30:52.44.
Stevenson will have three weeks to prepare for the 2009 CAC Cross Country Championships which will also be held at Heritage Park on Saturday, November 7.
