Bekier Finishes 11th to Lead Women at Goucher Classic

TOWSON, Md. - Stevenson women's cross country sophomore Julie Bekier (Baltimore/Greater Grace Christian Academy) posted an 11th place finish, her third in the top 20 this season, to lead three Mustang runners at the Goucher Classic on Saturday.

It was Stevenson's second 6K race of the season after the team placed 10th at the Don Cathcart Invitational on September 26.

Bekier was the team's top finisher for the fourth-straight race, completing the 6K course in a time of 27:50.89. She placed 54th at the Cathcart Invitational in 25:39.

Senior Brooke Witherow (Berlin/Stephen Decatur) and junior Lauren Redding (Bel Air/C. Milton Wright) who are the only two runners to compete in all six of the team's meets this season, finished 24th and 28th, respectively.

Witherow finished the race in a time of 29:57.61 while Redding crossed the line in 30:47.45.

Stevenson travels to Heritage Park in Walkersville next week, site of the 2009 CAC Cross Country Championships, for the Hood College Open Meet.
