Women's Volleyball Splits Two at Washington (Md.)

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Led by 10 kills and six total blocks from sophomore Jen Glock (Westminster/Westminster), the Stevenson women's volleyball team downed host Washington (Md.) in four sets Saturday at the Cain Athletic Center, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Mustangs (7-7) who were swept by Albright in the second game, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23.

Filling in for junior Alex Mercer (Eldersburg/Liberty), Glock totaled a season-high in both kills and total blocks as well as attempts with 31 against the Shorewomen (7-6). Along with freshman Avery Gabbard (Arnold/Broadneck) who totaled her fifth double double, the duo combined for 23 of the team's 46 kills.

Gabbard totaled 13 kills and 15 digs, both career-highs, while junior Dani Katsampis (New Windsor/Francis Scott Key) added eight kills and six digs.

Gabbard was one of three players with at least 10 digs as sophomores Alexa Carney (Towson/Towson) and Brooke Gilley (Bel Air/C. Milton Wright) each had 13, marking a new career-high for Gilley.

Against Albright (6-8), Gabbard and Katsampis combined for 22 of the team's 34 kills, totaling 12 and 10, respectively. Carney had a team-high 15 digs and sophomore Amy Rudolph (North East/Rising Sun) added 29 assists after totaling 35 versus Washington.

Stevenson hosts Gallaudet in a CAC match on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
