Women's Volleyball Falls 3-0 at Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Stevenson women's volleyball freshman Avery Gabbard (Arnold/Broadneck) totaled seven kills and nine digs, but the Mustangs could not overcome 24 attack errors as they dropped their third CAC match in the last four with a 3-0 loss at Mary Washington Thursday at Goolrick Gymnasium.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Eagles (16-8, 5-1 CAC) while extending their conference winning streak to four.

The best chance to steal a set for Stevenson (10-13, 2-3 CAC) came in the first where it led throughout until Mary Washington took a 24-23 advantage and won by two.

Junior Alex Mercer (Eldersburg/Liberty) added six kills while sophomore Alexa Carney (Towson/Towson) also had a team-high nine digs. Sophomore Amy Rudolph (North East/Rising Sun) had 13 assists and eight digs.

The Eagles' Anne Lutkenhaus totaled 11 kills and 11 digs while Laura Gomez added 11 kills.

The Mustangs travel to Rowan on Saturday for a tri-match with the Owls and Swarthmore.
