Eyler Named ECAC South Offensive Player of the Week

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - One day after receiving her fifth career CAC Player of the Week selection and third this season, Stevenson women's soccer sophomore Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin) was named ECAC Division III South Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for the second time.

Eyler was also named ECAC South Offensive Player of the Week as a freshman on Sept. 9, 2008.

The 2008 CAC Rookie of the Year, Eyler scored three goals in two CAC victories last week that gave the Mustangs a share of the 2009 CAC regular season championship with Salisbury. She scored twice in a 4-1 win over York (Pa.) last Wednesday, who entered the game unbeaten and in first place in conference play this season.

On Saturday, Eyler assisted the Mustangs to their eighth-straight win with the game's first goal in a 3-2 overtime victory over Mary Washington.

Eyler leading the CAC in scoring for the second-straight year with 17 goals and 37 points this season.

Stevenson earned the No. 2 seed and a bye in the first round of the 2009 CAC Women's Soccer Championship and will host the winner of sixth-seeded Wesley at third-seeded York (Pa.) next Wednesday, November 4 at a time to be determined. The Wolverines and Spartans play on Sunday.
