Eyler Named CAC Player of the Week Second Time
YORK, Pa. - Stevenson women's soccer sophomore Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin) was named CAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the second time this season, sharing the honor with Salisbury freshman defender Erin Mooney.
Eyler, who also received the honor on September 28, is the third selection from Stevenson this season and seventh in the last 17 weeks of the award. Freshman Melinda Kane (Baltimore/Mercy) was also chosen this year on September 14.
Eyler scored three of Stevenson's six goals in two CAC road wins last week to raise her CAC-leading total to 12 goals and 27 points. She scored a second-half goal in a 4-1 win over Hood on Wednesday beforing scoring both goals in a 2-0 shutout at Wesley on Friday.
In just 36 career games, Eyler has totaled 34 goals and 76 points and currently leads the conference in scoring for the second-straight season after posting 22 goals and 49 points a year ago.
Mooney scored her first two collegiate goals in a 3-1 win at Marymount (Va.), then added the game-winning goal early in the second half of a 2-0 decision over Hood.
Stevenson will host a CAC first-place showdown with York (Pa.) on Wednesday at Caves Athletics Complex. The Spartans currently lead the Mustangs by a half-game in the conference standings. Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
