10 Different Mustangs Score in 10-0 Win Over Gallaudet

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - A total of 10 players had at least one point, including junior Heather Redding (Street/North Harford) and sophomore Samantha Novy (Severna Park/Severna Park) who each had five as the Stevenson women's soccer team won its fourth-straight, 10-0 over Gallaudet Saturday at Caves Athletics Complex.
With the win, the Mustangs (8-3-1, 3-1 CAC) moved into sole possession of third place in the CAC standings behind conference unbeatens Salisbury and York (Pa.) who face each other on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., at York's Graham Field.
Three of Stevenson's four wins during its current win streak have come by shutout and the team has not allowed a goal in a span of 302:10, the last coming in the 65th minute of a 2-1 overtime win over Elizabethtown at home on September 26.
The Mustangs, who scored all 10 of its goals in the first half, took a 2-0 lead in the game's first four minutes after back-to-back tallies from senior Katie Decker (White Hall/Hereford) and Novy.
The two then picked up assists on the next two goals as Decker assisted on the first goal of the season from junior Allison Humphries (Bel Air/John Carroll) before Novy found Redding in the 22nd minute to give Stevenson a 4-0 lead.
The team would then score its next three goals in a span of 3:49 with markers from sophomore Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin), Redding and Novy.
Freshman Melinda Kane (Baltimore/Mercy) added her fifth goal of the season in the 35th minute before junior Kaitlyn Amos (Baltimore/Catholic) netted her first career goal on a penalty kick in the 42nd.
Freshman Lauren Weitzman (Westminster/Winters Mill), who has an 0.81 goals against average and .867 saves percentage in 10 games in goal, capped the scoring with her first career goal with 58 seconds left in the first half.
Redding and Novy finished with two goals and one assist each Humphries, Eyler and Decker all had a goal and an assist.
Sophomore Brittany Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) made one first half save to earn her third win of the season while Weitzman played the final 45 minutes in net.
Casey McCullough made eight saves for the Bison (4-8-1, 0-5 CAC).
Stevenson travels to Hood on Wednesday.
