Redding, Novy Both Score in 2-0 Road Win at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Stevenson women's soccer junior Heather Redding (Street/North Harford) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with her first of the season in the game's 32nd minute to lead the Mustangs to a 2-0 victory over Juniata in a non-conference contest Wednesday at Winton Hill Field.
The win was the second in the last three games for Stevenson (6-3-1) since the team was ranked in the NSCAA South Atlantic Region poll.
The Mustangs held a slim 14-11 edge in shots, only four of which were on goal, but they made the most of them, scoring on 50 percent of those on goal.
However, Stevenson was called for offsides 10 times.
Meanwhile, the Eagles (4-6) only had two shots on goal, both of which were stopped by Stevenson freshman Lauren Weitzman (Westminster/Winters Mill) who picked up her fourth win of the season in her fourth start.
Redding netted her first points since Oct. 16, 2008 when she totaled a career-high three with a goal and an assist in a 9-0 win at Gallaudet. Freshman Melinda Kane (Baltimore/Mercy) picked up her first career assist to raise her season point total to nine, three behind sophomore Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin) who leads the team with 12.
Eyler also raised her season total after assisting on an insurance goal by sophomore Samantha Novy (Severna Park/Severna Park) with just 53 seconds remaining in the second half.
Kristen Pensksa also finished with two saves for Juniata.
Stevenson returns to action next Wednesday when it travels to Arlington, Virginia for a CAC contest with Marymount (Va.) beginning at 8:00 p.m.
