The sixth head coach in program history, Millar begins his fifth season at Stevenson in 2010 and his fourth as the head women's soccer coach. He also serves as the department's Game Day Manager.
Over the past two seasons, Millar has led the team to a record of 26-10-6 which is the most wins over a two-year span in the team's 16-year history and back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time.
Since Millar joined the coaching staff as an assistant in 2006, Stevenson has posted a 49-29-6 record, advanced to two conference championship games, two ECAC Division III South Championships and one NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
A year ago, Millar was named 2009 CAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year, sharing the honor with Mary Washington's Corey Hewson, after leading the Mustangs to a school record 15 wins, their second-straight ECAC Division III South Region Championship, the CAC title game and a share of the CAC regular season title.
Stevenson boasted five All-CAC selections as well as the CAC Player of the Year in sophomore Stephanie Eyler and CAC Rookie of the Year for the second consecutive season in freshman Melinda Kane. The team also also received the prestigous NSCAA Gold Team Ethics Award and had five players named to the 2009 NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Team.
In addition, Eyler was the first player in school history to receive all-region honors as she was named to the NSCAA Women's NCAA Division III All-South Atlantic Region Second Team.
In 2008, Millar led a young and talented team to an 11-6-4 record and the quarterfinals of the ECAC Division III South Region Championship. The team had two All-CAC selections, including the CAC Rookie of the Year Stephanie Eyler who scored a conference-record 22 goals and 49 points.
In his first season, Millar led the Mustangs to an 8-11 overall record in 2007 and a mark of 3-5 in their first season in the CAC. The team started the season with wins in six of its first nine games and two of its first three conference games, including a 5-2 victory over Marymount (Va.) on September 20 in the program's first CAC contest.
A native of Scotland, Millar came to Stevenson in 2006 as an assistant under Lynnette Buffington. As the lead assistant, he helped lead Stevenson to a school record 15 wins and the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship after a 3-1 victory over Notre Dame (Md.) at home.
After helping the Mustangs to their second appearance in the NCAA tournament, Millar was promoted to head coach in June 2007.
Prior to Stevenson, Millar studied and worked in New Jersey for two years where he received his bachelor's degree in environmental science from Richard Stockton in 2005. He graduated summa cum laude and gained program distinction in the environmental field.
While in New Jersey, Millar coached and trained teams at Upper Township, Atlantic United and Mount Laurel United.
Millar played soccer at the college level for Glasgow Caledonian and as an amateur for Glasgow Westerlands in the Glasgow Western Division. He attended Cardonald College where he achieved a higher national diploma in sports coaching and vevelopment.
After coming to the US, Millar worked with Major League Soccer Camps where he coached and trained hundreds of youth players in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Michigan. He worked primarily with youth players of former MLS teams the Dallas Burn and New York Metrostars.
Millar currently holds the NSCAA Premier Diploma and the USSF "B" coaching license and has completed several licenses for the Scottish Football Association. He also received his NSCAA National and Advanced National coaching licenses, both with distinction.
Millar has served as the head coach of the Maryland Olympic Development Program 1995 girls team since 2006 and was the head coach of the ASA Illusion U18 girls team for two seasons in 2008 and 2009. Also in 2008, he was an assistant coach for the U18 Maryland State Cup champion Freestate Shooters under head coach and current Stevenson assistant, Win Puffer.
In September 2009, Millar was promoted to Girls ODP Director of the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association.
Millar and his wife, Erin, who is a lawyer for Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, currently live in Baltimore.
