Marymount Hands Mustang Women 74-47 Home Loss

STEVENSON, Md. - Marymount (Va.) forced 33 turnovers which led to 25 points and outscored the Stevenson University women's basketball team by 22 in the first half as the No. 21-ranked Saints won their fifth-straight, 74-47 over the Mustangs Wednesday night at Carolyn Manuszak Student Union Gymnasium.
Kathleen Brown led Marymount (18-4, 11-2 CAC) with 15 points and 10 rebounds, both game-highs, while Terrell white added 14 points. Amanda Billy had 12 points, four rebounds and four steals.
The three combined for 27 of the team's 45 first half points as the Saints built a 45-23 lead and made 12-of-14 free throw attempts.
Stevenson (5-17, 3-10 CAC) shot just 28.6 percent in the first half while committing 17 turnovers and 10 fouls.
Marymount stretched its lead to as many as 31 in the second half despite making only 31.3 percent of its shots and totaling 14 turnovers.
In addition to the points off turnovers, the Saints held a 49-39 advantage in rebounding and 30-18 margin in points in the paint.
The Mustangs were led by eight points each from senior guard Tara Galvin (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township), sophomore guard Amanda Craig (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) and freshman guard Breonna Brewer (Baltimore/Polytechnic). Craig also added a team-high nine rebounds.
Sophomore forward Jasmine Jarrett (Woodstock/Mount Hebron) added seven points off the bench where Stevenson held a slim 23-19 edge.
The Mustangs play their final home game of the season on Saturday when they host CAC rival Salisbury beginning at 2:00 p.m. In addition to Senior Day and Valentine's Day, the team will be participating in the WBCA's Pink Zone to raise money in the fight against breast cancer.
