Joe Spurrier Has Career Day at Hood Invitational

FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson University men's cross country junior Joe Spurrier (Mt. Airy/Glenelg) posted the fastest 5,000 meter time of his career Saturday afternoon at the Hood Invitational at Hood College.
Spurrier was one of 30 runners competing from five difference schools, including Penn State-Altoona, Southern Virginia, Hood and the District of Columbia. Penn State-Altoona edged Southern Virginia by just one point for first place.
Spurrier finished 18th in a time of 18:05.38, his fastest 5K time this season by more than a minute and 30 seconds and 14 seconds ahead of his time of 18:19 set at the Hood Invitational last year.
Stevenson will head to Mary Washington next Saturday for the 2008 CAC Cross Country Championships.
