J.R. Jackson Named to NECVA All-Western Division Team

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Stevenson University men's volleyball senior J.R. Jackson (Havre de Grace/Havre de Grace) was named to the 2009 NECVA All-Western Division Second Team for the second time in his career on Thursday. He also earned the honor as a sophomore in 2006.

Jackson led the Mustangs in kills for the third-straight season with 348 and is ranked 16th in the NECVA in kills, 19th in points and 26th in hitting percentage. He led the Western Division in hitting percentage and ranking second in kills while also posting 81 total blocks, 72 digs and a .338 hitting percentage.

The school's career leader in kills with 1,435, Jackson was named to the all-tournament team at the NECA Western Division Tournament and at the Gothic Knight Invitational. He has totaled 20 or more kills 13 times, including a career-high 30 at New Jersey City on Feb. 9, 2008. This season, he had a season-high 26 kills at York (N.Y.) on March 14.

In 113 career matches, Jackson has totaled 380 games, 443 digs, 251 total blocks and 52 service aces. He also holds the school record for career attempts with 3,002 and as a junior, set the single-season record with 457 kills and 998 attempts.

The Mustangs finished fifth at the NECVA West Tournament and will find out on Monday if they are selected to participate in the 2009 ECAC Division III North Men's Volleyball Championship.
