Lloyd, Matkowski Receive NECVA West Weekly Honors

STEVENSON, Md. - On Tuesday, Stevenson University men's volleyball junior David Lloyd (Germantown/Seneca Valley) and sophomore Jason Matkowski (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) were named NECVA Western Division Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, following their performances against SUNY IT and Medaille on Sunday.
Lloyd totaled 27 kills and had a .352 hitting percentage in nine games to go along with eight total blocks.
In the team's 3-2 win over nationally-ranked Medaille, Lloyd had a season-high 16 kills and hit .414 while adding six total blocks. In the Mustangs' 3-1 win over SUNY IT, he had 11 kills, five digs and two total blocks.
Matkowski led the team with 31 kills over the two matches for an average of 3.44 kills per game while posting a team-best .397 hitting percentage. He also added a team-high 20 digs and had seven total blocks.
Against SUNY IT, Matkowski totaled his fifth double double of the season, including fourth in the last seven games, with 16 kills and 14 digs. He also had four total blocks and a .467 hitting percentage.
In the win over Medaille, Matkowski had 15 kills, six digs and three total blocks.
Stevenson (13-6) has won its last six consecutive matches and is just two wins shy of tying the school record for wins in a season set in 2006 and 2008.
