Puls' lacrosse resume is steeped in success both on and off the field.  The Stevenson defensive assistant was also the head coach at The Community College of Baltimore - Essex, a team he guided to the 1991 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championship, in addition to 13 other appearances in the NJCAA Final Four.  Half of the 14 appearances in the Final Four have led to appearances in the Championship Final.

The chief scout of the MLL's Baltimore Bayhawks, Puls sports a 213-90 career record, winning more than 70 percent of contests his squad has taken on the field.  He has 16 Maryland Junior College Championships to his credit, as well as 14 NJCAA Region XX Championships.

The 1990 and 1995 NJCAA Coach of the Year was also named the McDonald's Challenge Cup Coach of the Year in 1983. He has also been named the Maryland Junior College Coach of the Year on 15 occasions.  It's not just Puls' garnering awards. Under his guise, 30 of his student-athletes have been named Academic or Scholar All-Americans. 71 of his players have been NJCAA All-American selections, while three of those athletes earned NJCAA Player of the Year awards.  10 of Puls' players have gone on to the professional ranks.

Puls is an activist away from the field as well.  The President of the NJCAA Lacrosse Coaches Association has also served the organization as its Publicity Director, Chairman of the All-American Selection Format Committee, a member of the National Tournament Format Committee, and as the Championship Tournament Director on three occasions.

In addition to his efforts with the NJCAA, Puls is a contributing writer for Lacrosse magazine, and a panelist for the United States Lacrosse Coaches Association (USLCA) and United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches Association (USILA) annual meetings.

Coach Puls currently resides in Baltimore with his wife Cassie.  They are the proud parents of three children, Travis, Tim, and Meghan.
