Furshman Named MVP at North/South All-Star Game

BOSTON, Mass. - Stevenson University men's lacrosse seniors Greg Furshman (Miami, Fla./Towson), Mike Simon (Fallston/Fallston) and Nic Bevacqua (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) were selected to participate in the USILA North/South Senior All-Star Game which took place on Friday, May 22 at Harvard Stadium.
Furshman was named MVP as he led the South squad to a 17-13 victory with three goals and two assists. Bevacqua finished with a goal and two assists while Simon totaled three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
The Mustangs' three selections were tied for the most of any school in Division III and were part of eight total selections from the CAC, joining Kylor Berkman and Kevin Maynard of Salisbury, Charlie White of Mary Washington, Kirk Waldie of Wesley and Steve Mersinger of York (Pa.).
The CAC totaled eight of the South's 17 goals as Berkman also finished with three and White added one.
Three-time LEC Coach of the Year Mark Theriault, who just finished his 10th year as the head coach of Keene State, led the Division III North team while the South was led by Drew head coach Tom Leanos who ranks 14th in Division III in career victories.
The game was part of a tripleheader as the USILA partnered with the Boston Cannons of the MLL for the second-straight year to host the game. The Division I/II game followed before the Cannon's hosted the Denver Outlaws at 7:30 p.m.
The South also won the Division I/II game, 17-12.
