Martin, May Score in 2-1 Victory at Richard Stockton

POMONA, N.J. - Behind two goals from sophomore Brittany Martin (Hampstead/Hereford) and freshman Kaitlyn May (Arnold/Archbishop Spalding), the Stevenson field hockey team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-1 non-conference victory road victory at Richard Stockton on Saturday.
May's goal with less than 17 minutes remaining gave the Mustangs (5-12) a 2-0 lead and proved to be the game-winner as the Ospreys' Bernadette Jablonoski scored just 2:06 later to cut the lead in half.
The goal by May was her second of the season and first game-winner. She also had Stevenson's lone goal in a 4-1 loss at Randolph-Macon on October 8.
The Mustangs held a 1-0 halftime lead after Martin scored her first goal of the season with 11:53 to play in the first half. The goal came on one of 16 shots in the half for Stevenson who held a 16-8 advantage and an 8-5 margin in penalty corners.
Richard Stockton (3-13) made a run late in the second half after holding a 12-7 edge in shots, but the Mustangs were able to escape with the victory as junior Kara Zimmerman (Odenton/Arunel) totaled seven of her 12 saves to keep the Ospreys from registering the game-tying goal.
Zimmerman, who set the school record for career saves in the team's 5-0 loss at No. 2 Salisbury, is now just one shy of 400 in just three seasons.
Debi O'Kane had 20 saves for Richard Stockton, 14 of which came in the first half.
Stevenson concludes the 2009 regular season at home on Thursday with a CAC contest versus Wesley at Caves Athletics Complex beginning at 4:00 p.m.
