Jill Matheny begins her eigth season as Head Coach of the Villa Julie Cheerleading squad. In 2006 the team was announced open national champions at the Cheerleaders of America (COA) Open National Championships and placed 1st at the American Cheer Express (ACE) regional classic competition which qualified them for the ACE National Competition.  The team had a near flawless routine and won the Small Collegiate Coed division, beating out UNC-Pembroke to end their season.

Coach Matheny has coached at the high school, all-star and college levels. All of her teams have placed in the top three in regional and national competitions. Stevenson's program has gained a competitive edge under Matheny's leadership, and she expects the team to continue to gain regional and national recognition in the upcoming season.

She coached the Rosedale Senior All-Star Competition team for four years, placing second in nationals. She also coached Overlea High School for two seasons, placing second in Baltimore County and fourth in regionals. In addition, Matheny worked with the Towson University Dance team, doing training camps and judging competitions around the state.

Coach Matheny holds her B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Towson University. She currently works as a speech pathologist at St. Elizabeth School in Baltimore.
