Stevenson Cheerleaders Help Support U.S. Troops

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University cheerleading team participated in a community service project on Wednesday called Maryland Cheers for Our Troops. This fundraising initiative, sponsored by the Coastal Corporation, collected items for soldiers from the state of Maryland currently serving in Iraq.

The Mustangs were one of 20 Maryland cheer teams who collected the most requested items to send overseas in care packages for Thanksgiving. The team has chose to donate microwave popcorn in addition to raising the $50 needed for shipping charges.

The Coastal Corporation began back in 1999 and are currently the largest cheerleading company on the east coast. They host close to 30 events in more than 15 different states, including Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
